1950′s

1952 Kirk Douglas stars in “The Big Sky” filmed in Grand Teton National Park and Jackson, Wyoming. This isn’t one of Kirk Douglas’s most memorable movies. Definitely not a block buster like “Spartacus” or the “Vikings.”

1953 Probably the most renowned film made in Wyoming is “Shane” starring Alan Ladd and filmed in Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole. Tough competition in 1953. This is the year that Oscars went to William Holden for Best Actor in “Stalag 17″; to Audrey Hepburn for Best Actress in “Roman Holiday” and the Best Picture was “From Here to Eternity”.
